Flight: Condor DE2017
Route: New York (JFK) → Frankfurt (FRA)
Date: December 23, 2025
Aircraft: Airbus A330neo
Cabin: Business Class
My seat: Originally 4A, upgraded at the gate to Prime Seat 2A
Traveling with: Wife and son (also in Business Class seats 4A and 6A)
If you’ve been curious about Condor’s new A330neo Business Class, here’s my real-world experience flying from JFK to Frankfurt. Between the modern cabin, strong service, and a lie-flat bed that’s genuinely comfortable, this was an excellent transatlantic flight overall — with one notable downside I think everyone should know before booking.

Quick verdict
What I loved:
- Spacious seat and bed
- Very strong food
- Proactive, warm service
What I didn’t:
- The cabin got uncomfortably hot mid-flight
- No overhead air vents, so it was hard to fix
Would I fly it again?
Yes — especially at the redemption price we paid.
Booking details: 3 business class seats for 135,000 Alaska miles + $299
This was one of the best points redemptions I’ve booked for international business class.
Total for three passengers:
- 135,000 Alaska miles + $299 total
Cash price for the same date:
- About $11,000 total for three tickets (roughly $3,600+ per person)
How I booked it:
- I booked using Alaska Miles that I had saved up from transferring Amex Membership Rewards to Alaska via the Hawaiian transfer path last year (before that option ended).
Approximate value:
- After accounting for the $299 in fees, this redemption comes out to roughly 7.9 cents per Alaska mile, which is outstanding for business class — especially for three seats on the same flight.
JFK airport experience: smooth and efficient
Everything ran on time and boarding was smooth with no delays.
Check-in and priority:
- Dedicated priority check-in counter
- Bags were tagged as priority
- Priority boarding group 1
Security:
- There was a priority lane available, but we used TSA PreCheck, which was fast.
Lounge access:
- Condor Business Class includes access to the Horizons T7 lounge at JFK.
- We chose to visit the Capital One Lounge in a different terminal instead.
Cabin first impressions: modern, clean, and spacious
The A330neo Business Class cabin made a strong first impression:
- Clean
- Spacious
- Mood lighting and music that created a premium vibe
It felt fresh and modern — exactly what you want before an overnight transatlantic flight.
Surprise upgrade: from seat 4A to Prime Seat 2A
This was a fun surprise.
I was originally assigned seat 4A, but when I scanned my boarding pass at the gate, I was told I had been upgraded to Prime Seat 2A.

My wife and son were also seated in Business Class (4A and 6A), so I got the Prime experience while still traveling together as a family.
Prime perk I received:
- Pajamas were provided, which was a nice premium touch.
The seat: comfortable, responsive tech, and solid storage
Overall, the seat experience was very strong.
Privacy:
- Not the most enclosed “suite” style seat, but private enough with plenty of space.

Storage:
- Adequate space for essentials like phone, wallet, and headphones.
Power and charging:
- USB and the power outlet both worked perfectly.
Screen and entertainment:
- The screen was easy to use and very responsive.
The main drawback: it got too hot (and there are no overhead air vents)
This was the only major con for me — but it mattered.
There were no overhead air vents/nozzles at the seat. Later into the flight, it became uncomfortably hot and it was difficult to sleep.
Sleep:
- I got a few hours of sleep.
- The noise and lighting were fine.
- The temperature was the issue.

Bedding and bed comfort:
- A mattress pad was provided.
- The bed was large and comfortable.
If you run warm on flights, I would absolutely plan for that on this aircraft since your unable to control airflow from above.
Service: warm, proactive, and efficient
Service was a standout.
The crew was:
- Proactive
- Warm
- Efficient
Pre-departure service:
- A variety of pre-departure drinks were offered.
- I chose a non-alcoholic beer, served in a glass, along with warm nuts.

Food and drink: excellent overall
Meal timing:
- The first meal was served quickly after reaching cruising altitude, which is ideal on an overnight flight.

Dinner:
Starter:
- Marinated tuna
- Yellow beetroot with tarragon dressing
- Mixed greens with balsamic dressing
- Millefeuille of tomato-mozzarella, bresaola, and balsamic

Main:
- Beef tenderloin
- Grilled vegetables
- Roasted potato wedges
- Wine jus

Dessert:
- Lemon tart

Breakfast before landing:
- Oats
- Omelet
- Fresh fruit
- Pretzel

Drinks:
- Orange juice (fresh pressed, not from concentrate)
- Non-alcoholic beer

Amenity kit and extras (Prime seat)
Amenity kit:
- Condor-branded travel organizer
- Sleeping mask
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Mouthwash
- Socks
- Hand cream
- Face moisturizer (Rituals)

Prime seat extra:
- Pajamas were provided — and this isn’t just a gimmick. Condor’s business class sleeper suit/pajamas was named the winner in the Business Class Sleeper Suit category at the 2024 TravelPlus Airline Amenity Awards. Even better, the sleeper suit is made with 100% organic cotton, which helped it feel soft, breathable, and genuinely comfortable for an overnight flight or even at home.

Bathrooms:
- Bathrooms stayed clean throughout the flight.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Spacious seat and bed
- Food quality was excellent
- Service was warm and proactive
Cons:
- Cabin was too hot mid-flight
- No overhead air vents, which made sleep harder
Final verdict: I would absolutely fly Condor Business again
Even with the temperature issue, this was a great Business Class flight overall — and the redemption value made it a no-brainer.
If you can book Condor Business Class for anything close to:
- 45,000 Alaska miles per person plus roughly $100 per person
…this is a very compelling way to cross the Atlantic in comfort.
